When I first started questioning my every day products about 5 years ago after joining the Benefit corporation (B corp) Beautycounter, I found Seventh Generation, another Benefit corporation (B corp). (Full disclosure: The CEO of Seventh Generation serves on Beautycounter's Executive Board) At the time I was just looking for safer laundry detergent and dishwashing detergent - focusing on the products I used every day that came in contact with my girls and husband. After the fact, I found out that the name of the company is based on an ancient Iroquois philosophy which instructs that “in our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.”
Five years later due to performance and safety, I still use the Seventh Generation Free and Clear unscented laundry detergent (yes, almost daily - moms know what I'm talking about 😁 ) and the dish liquid Lemongrass and Clementine Zest Scent.
